3:04 pm
the resources, you know, and it really depend on what the families want to know you know them wanting to do independent study for the rest of the year or maybe even trafford school diamond is really dependent on. you know, we're just, you right regard to the community honored every just try to be creative and provide. and, you know, the the families, you know, resources. i think at the time it will definitely need to be a cooling down period. but emotions are high. but really more to our president, which is live on that if the records are there, you know, that's all you know, we're here. come from a community you know you've got have you know, but we can follow up with them, you know, and a half. and why i think emotions. >> you know, but afterward, we are still families and, you know, and victims right? that would be, you know, resources, you know, moving forward. they're trying to kee that in mind. >> thank you so much for joining us. this paris davis from youth alive confirming
3:05 pm
with us that there's been a shooting at a school inside the classroom. he is telling us 5 to 6 people shot. we're going continue to follow this year. if you're just joining us here during our breaking news coverage during kron, 4 news at 3 o'clock. right now, we're following the school shooting in east oakland ours sources are saying multiple people have been shot. paris davis, they're just told us 5 to 6 shot. it happened according to him inside the classroom. the school district saying it happened at the king estate, the bay area tech campus on where violence happened. houses multiple different schools, including barry technology school sojourner, truth, independent and russ still newcomer high school parents are being asked to pick up their students at a church that's located about a half a mile away on mountain and keller avenue. if you're trying to take 5.80, to get there, the california highway patrol has shut down the keller east and westbound ramps as far as oakland
3:06 pm
police. they are there on the scene or videos into the newsroom showing us that they have blocked off a barricaded a huge part of the a scene there. they want people to try to stay away. that's why they have put this reunification center at the church about a half a lot. how about a half mile away on the phone right now with us is kron four's terisa stasio. she is joining us from highland hospital. that's the nearest trauma center towards this. a school to re says we understand that there are 3 victims being treated there right now. >> i don't think they were here at highland hospital inject effective we can and do here. it brought 3 victims, 3 shooting victims to the hospital. this is a center only in the areas to treat kinds of cases. have the place and they are working on those victims. we've also been told by sources that that is where all they can even if it in we've had catches ali to that.
3:07 pm
it's because you want to make sure that you've got all of forces out just in case there are some other. terrible violent thing that happened in oakland. so again, games are dedicated to 3 victims right now trying to perform life saving. >> they don't know the extent and the injuries other than we know that they were shot. justine who were waiting. for traders to come out and give us more information. we have requests to the family members that we've been told that are here at the hospital by school officials alerted by 2 detectives. so that's kind of that. is for you right now about what's going on? they're ways a lot of chaos, as you can imagine, just because this is developing story. a lot of points, too about the status of the victim is waiting to see we can get more information. so we are accurate, too. why did everyone certainly want
3:08 pm
>> to re? so there are a lot parents or family members at what's the the scene outside there. i know you said there are a lot of ambulances, but we've got information from the police department. they didn't want people to be going there to the hospital to be congregating. and i'm just curious if there is if you're seeing a lot of family members all going there to the hospital trying to get information. >> what my understanding is just seen time. those family members are inside the hospital. so we haven't seen anyone this is a very, very busy place. and there's a lot of people that are congregating outside. but no one that i've talked to related to the 3 people black here. so my understanding based on sort of here is that there are people related to the victims inside, but nobody congregating on the outside right now. >> so that would say to me that the people who have loved
3:09 pm
ones who have been hurt in school shooting have been told that they have a victim at the hospital that they need to go see and be with. >> and certainly word now also about, you know, i just want to here for a minute. why i live next to my car. one sitting and i thought to detectives walking by and they are going into the hospital right now. so. >> absolutely a good sign to see if they can get information to some of the victims involved. and this shooting. of that is that's a good sign right they certainly was very determined that they are heading in >> could there farm. they are heading into the center aspect of the highland hospital. so if i hospital that treats many different people, but they're going into the room, as i can see right now. so hopefully that means that some of these
3:10 pm
victims are stable enough that they can provide critical information to and those were officers from the oakland police department or alameda county sheriff. >> you atl there >> yeah, only county sheriff's deputies that i've seen drive-by, but the here are handle it. that's i recognize to just one in 5. >> from the oakland police department into the emergency room and highland hospital treats. you know, most of the shooting victims from any of the violence that unfolds in oakland. they're the closest hospital, the hospital that has sort of the level of trauma care that shooting victims would need at. do we know anything about the 3 victims in castro valley? >> i asked force is just seen as far because my question to
3:11 pm
a source in line was if we're not hearing that some of what taken kids, children's hospital, which is also oakland, that's a children's penny off. does that mean that there's not children that were injured by? well, it's corrected by saying that you're going to want to get those victims regardless of age immediately to the closest trauma center. so because the trauma center mentioned is highland over here right next to 5.80. so the other close trauma center is going to be eaten, vowing that can catch valley. so that's not necessarily that, though we victims that were taken to the cache valley. so they are left injured. probably the decisions that were made quickly on the scene. but one good deed that. we have the injured would be taken to the close do it. and that pilot, again, i can see that the captive. now they are going in a different direction out of the room. i could see their
3:12 pm
and i recognized and i could see say they are texas. >> highland hospital in oakland, the public hospital in alameda county is the primary trauma center a county hospital. they would be able to you know, that level we some new information from the. mayor of oakland now giving us some details about the violence that's unfolding in her city. the tweet there at the bottom is saying today is gun violence at sojourner truth school. so she is giving truth school. she saying it shocks the schools, our soul. our schools are sanctuary for children. are investigators report all 6 victims are adults and being treated for injuries at hospitals. right now, the school is now clear and children being reunited with their families. so that gives us a lot of new information here. as we've been talking about a school
3:13 pm
shooting, 6 victims, all adults, and that also pairs with the information that 2 recent he's getting from her sources that no victims went to children's children's hospital, oakland, they out 3 went to highland hospital. 3 went to eton. it's because they're all adults. so 6 adults, according to the mayor of oakland, have been shot at sojourner truth. and noelle bellow is here with some details. also coming into our what we just we have been talking just a little about how this campus it has multiple schools attached to it. that ragsdale continuation school is there on the same campus outs as sojourner truth. >> that campus students anywhere from age 16 to 21 as well as the bay area technology school. that's on this campus as well. they campu

well, these are live we can't get to reset back with. these are live pictures. we're now on the scene there. >> in east oakland, live pictureslnow into our newsroom. these are parents waiting foa information. this is right outside. >> of school. we're learning now that this shooting were 6 adults have been shot happened at sojourner truththth independent study the grades that it takes care of. according to the oakland unified school district is k through 12. but the information from the oakland mayor's office saying that it was 6 adults that have been shot, 6 adults. we're just
3:15 pm
getting details of about the ages of the victims. but when we talto paris davis from youth to live right at the top of the hour. he was telling us that the ages that would be inside the classroom would be 15 to 20 years old and that. sort of pairs also with what the mayor of oakland, libby schaaf put out there about 6 victims. we know that 6 are at highland hospital. that is the level one trauma centetetethat wou be closest to the school. we have 3 shot victims there and we have 3 victims at eden valley in castro valley. that was where others went, where teresa was at highland hospital. she saw oakland police detectives walking in and out of the emergency room. she saw their badges going in there possibly to talk with family members, trying to talk with the victims, trying to get some details, but are live pictures here showing us, you uw know, the anxiety of the parents waiting to see what happened to their loved ones as they went to this school cacacapus today. sojourner trut

it's and it it independence study. located there on the campus of bay tech, right off of 5.80, right near the king estate open park. that's right behind where this campus is. people are being asked unify with their loved ones at a church. that's that mountain and keller. if you're trying to take 5.80, to get to keller, the easton westbound ramps. if you're tryinto get ere from the east and westbound d d mps are closed. some new information just into the newsroom right now about the victims, about the 6 people shot their ages. our between 18 and 50 years old, the age range for the 6 people injured in the school shooting today are there between the ages of 18 and 50. we don't know the exact ages. we don't male or female. we don't know whether they work for the school if they were students at the school or what they
3:17 pm
would have been doing on the campus there at the sojourner truth. but the ages of the victims, a 5th 18 to 50 years old and we have 6 victims in total. again. this is a campus with multiple. >> schools on the different schools serve either between students aged or from 6th grade to 12th grade from kindergarten through 12th grade. there's also the rest day ragsdale contnt uation school on this campus.hat school serves. students anywhere from age 16 to 21. so. it is possible there is a variety of suspects either students or teachers or staff members here again, between the ages of 18 53 of those victims are at highland hospital. we have one reporter there. 3 of the victims have been sent to even hospital in
3:18 pm
castro valley in castro we 3 taking him taking him live or he just sent it. >> ok, i just want to go over the information again from oakland, mayor libby schaff. she gave us the most details that we've confirm from an official saying that today's gun violence at sojourner truth school is shocking. the soul, our schools are sanctuaries for children. the investigators there reporting all 6 victims are adults. the details we got into our newsroom or the ages are ranging between 18 and 50 years old. all are being treated for their injuries at hospitals right now. we know that there are 3 at highland hospital and 3, even in castro valley. and the school is now clear. so we can go back to the live picture of the school is clear. the sojourner truth school is clear and children being reunited with their families at the church. that's that mountain and keller. so also the top tweet they're
3:19 pm
from libby schaff saying the unbridled access to firearms in our country is inexcusable. so that conversation is also about to pop back up again. they've been having a lot of gun violence in recently as we reported at the top of the hour, they had 9 shootings in the past 9 days. there. we spoke. we spoke earlier with a youth alive in oakland. person who works with the oakland youth, saying that this is just got to punching. i do believe we have rob nesbitt live for us here. i'm from the school. rob, do you have >> seem to be connecting. might be having some technical issues here. again, if you're just joining us, people have been injured in a school shooting all of their ages between 18. >> and 50 there in east oakland. >> i'm at a campus that actually holds 3 different
3:20 pm
institutions. one is a bay is bay area. technology school once a joiner truth, independent school in red still continue. ation school rob nesbitt is there live outside of the school. i believe rob, a can of what can you tell us? i'm at the corner of press and fontaine treat. this is where they have media set up. oakland police are expected to give a press conference to give aupdate. i don't know many details about what happened with this shoooo ing. but what i do know is just the chaos of the scene. i'm going to set it for you. >> at this intersection, there's a lot of parents walking up and down and also guardians who parents were unable to get to this area to pick up their kids there and work there in situations where they can get them. so a lot of people panic hoping that their kids are ok. i talked with several of those parents, one of them. she just rushers quickly. she could. here's what she had to say about the shooting today. >> i was at home and they just sent that letter to my and that there was an active shooter here. and then the school started to call and let

3:22 pm
beyond that tree, you can see some people that are gathered right by the side of the entrance were not able to go over there. i'm not sure if they are staff teachers or parents. what i've been talking to is different parents kind of walking down the sidewalk. they they just quickly got to as close as they could as possible. they were a update. so you've been talking about with church in the area that parents are told to go to pick up their kids. but if they didn't get that alert, they were just trying to get as close to the school as possible. so really, no parents right now running around. but as they've been walking down the sidewalk, one of the time i have been talking with them and just like that parents said a second ago, it's just a very scary situation. happy to be reunited. the details of this, everyone is wondering what exactly >> when it comes. so so you still have not heard from police. do you know at any point when they will be addressing the media >> i've been told within the next half an hour or so. of course, you guys have all been
3:23 pm
at the scenes of several situations with incidents and sometimes those get pushed back. we're hoping to get details that within the next half hour now out. >> that that woman that you shared her story with with did you know how old was her child? did she say anything else about it? what she plans to do going forward? because i know that this is a scary situation for these parents and students have to go through the thought of coming back to school in the next day or weeks it's just hard to comprehend. >> yeah, absolutely no out and tell me her her child's exact age. she said elementary school. i believe she might have said he was in 3rd you think about having a 3rd grader. that's just any scary situation. whether you're in 3rd grade or a senior in high school when we hear about these reports of school shootings, you feel for the parents. she told me in the next moment she left work with no plan. just want to be reunited with their kid which did happen, which is a good thing from now. she just wants
3:24 pm
to go home and spend time with their kids. that's where she said she was head to next. i mean, >> that would be the most terrifying message to get from your school, robbed as that live there on the campus for us. they tack after this school shooting rob, we'll check back with you in as soon as oakland police start to provide iome information we know will count on you to recap for us afterwards. so stand by there. rob, thank you so much. we're going to go over now. the details into our newsroom about this school shooting. 6 people shot. >> at the sojourner truth, independent study in east oakland, it's located on the bay tech campus. often teen street the ages of the victims range from 18 to 50 years old. they're 6 victims in total. 3 are at highland hospit.l. that is the. closest level one trauma center near this the scene and they would be able to help out any victims with severe a shooting injuries. that's the best place for them
3:25 pm
to get that type of care. they're also that's the closest. there are also 3 victims even in the castro valleys. but we do not know the extent of the injuries of any of the 6 people shot. but oakland police on scene there at highland hospital going in and out of the er. that was according to theresa she was there. theresa is here back with us she's outside of highland hospital to reset. what's the latest? >> getting to couple minutes victim family walked out. i i will they were that back to late they wanted to share a little bit >> fama that they are really facing. >> a little bit about the people that of the things, the family >> but their hand up. and i just backed. >> away. they said that they were too upset to speak and act. that they could be left so i i i could see them now.

they are about a block away from highland hospital >> hugging each other. you it's a tears as but again and just giving them the respect that they asked for there were the oakland detective said, i saw on air and they are waiting for the city. information officers come out here talk to the media. we've been told that there's going to be news conference with the local police department probably taking place in the next 15 to 20 minutes. so that should give us more information. the other information that we got, of course, it stays of the victims range in age from 18 to 50 1, 8, it to 0. i've doing 3 victims are here in highland hospital, the closest trauma center to the is this latest crime to play the city of 3, victims were taken to valley hospital, another trauma center the bay area over in oneida county. and that have to we. that's kind

certainly not the day that they saw unfold, but we don't know the level of injuries of the of the person there that they were trying to go take care of and and be with. >> meeting of the age, we don't know their relationship that we do know that there was that and a woman that think kind of like a mother and then a couple of man that looks like maybe possibly cousins brothers. yeah, it weighs. i certainly that family with extended family members here and again, very traumatizing, understand, out. i mean, you can't underscore that. it's that just even being here going into a hospital 9, you not being able to stay course because they are in. it okay. tell us. i thought we don't hbve you can nation, carol, you are. far as the extent of the injury is taking to hope for the
3:29 pm
>> at any age, i mean, as we keep saying, these victims are between the ages of 18 50 at any age to be a victim of any sort of violence of this level is heartbreaking. gut-wrenching. i'll take the word from. >> the man that we spoke to a little bit earlier with the youth alive organization, which, you know, works with. works with in oakland, it got punching situation and the fact that it is less than 2 months into the school year, it's heartbreaking to reset. thank you for that. >> we're going to go live right now. we have council member trevor reed from from the city council joining us in just a few minutes. we'll get some details from trevor reed here. but we do know that the gun violence happened at sojourner truth school. that's where the 6 adults were shot as sojourner. truth is an independent study program that is available to serve. families who want online learning 4 t k through 12

intervene, where there could be grouping gang conflict. other issue that are rising it that are brewing on the campus. both that can take your investing in partner. on the campuses. and certainly need more who have experienced a lot of the issues that that are able now come back important. our meeting and the port and measure draft conflict and bring more healthy. that's all. >> were you aware of any threats that were made to the school campus recently? >> i'm not able to that. i believe the opd more information. >> okay. we're waiting to hear from oakland as far as some final details there. but we appreciate the information that you've provided to i know you won't say exactly how many people are still there at the nter where you are. but >> our people are a number of people here a number of people still gathering i don't have a
3:39 pm
total count for you. i'm not able to if english, a parent from property in administrators were still and supporting one another. so will work is someone from the school can be available to keep that to that count doubt be opd who may be gathering at where are waiting to get out. we're waiting to get an update from opd. how? >> the people that are there with you. that age is mostly adults. are young kids and how upset are they about how violence disrupted their their day to day? >> the parents that maybe they were featured didn't want to talk. they getting gathering holding on to other processed. >> i could yeah, that here i'm not knowing about the heartbreak of what that they had and the parent who i loved one. it's traumatizing for me
3:40 pm
wear >> yeah, this probably brings back some tough feelings for you. >> the cops are for all of us right now and especially for the parent property we have into it. the horrible >> council member read, we appreciate you joining us here during kron. 4 news at 3 o'clock today providing us these breaking details about what's happening there at the reunification center and also explain to us a little bit more about how there were some students who were shot today while at school, while at sojourner we're going to. stay with you here. we're going to get some more live pictures in some new video into our newsroom. council member reid, thank you so much. that was council member reid the oakland city council here. some new video now just into our newsroom. noelle, you want
3:41 pm
describe everyone again earlier we were showing you citizen app video of some students talking about how they saw officers. >> with weapons going into the school, as you can see in this video. that is exactly what these students saw. there were young students there. but also as we just heard from the council member, there are adult programs as well as newcomer programs for people who have fled there, countries to come to america for a better education and a better life. and here today, they all have all become victims of a school shooting and violence has disrupted their day. as justine said, i'm a little bit earlier. this is again, video of the this is a neighborhood here that of the all come to school here. there's a multiple institutions on this campus. as we mentioned earlier, sojourner truth, independent is where the violence seemed to have wrung out. we're still waiting for
3:42 pm
opd to go ahead and give us a little bit more detail. we still don't know if any shooters have been detained at this point. we just asked the council member what she knew. she said we need to wait for opd to confirm that they are asking anyone in these surrounding if they have any surveillance footage from their homes, a ring doorbell, cameras, that sort of anything that they could when it comes to the investigation of the shooting to go ahead and provide that to opd. as we mentioned earlier again, this we have dealt with 9 homicides in the last 9 days in oakland in this shooting. we are unaware of the status is of the 6 victims, the 6 who have been shot, 3 victims have gone to highland hospital. 3 others to eat in in castro valley. all of the victims are adults age 50 18. >> and these different campuses. do service adult. they do offer adult programs to adult students. i know for
3:43 pm
the reds land school, that's their serves newcomers who are from the age of 16 to 21. and then again, as the council member mentioned, there are adult programs here hard to comprehend. i'm sure for a lot of these families as we heard from rob nesbitt a little bit we watched him, you know, interview a woman who just as soon as they were undone speahing, she, you know, grab her son so closely and then just rushed off. it's not an area that >> they want to hang around that on your left is a live picture outside that campus where a lot of parents, you know, if they didn't get the updates of exactly where to go to pick up their kids, they rushed just to the campus. and as you can see, some. >> walking out right now, those did get the alerts went to a nearby comforts church just about half a ,ile away from the we do have a crew
3:44 pm
there. as we mentioned, we have a crew there outside of the campus for when opd is supposed to be giving us an update official update. this all rang out just before 1 o'clock this afternoon. we've, of course, been following it as soon as we received heavy police presence. you can see there on the right-hand side of your screen and many vehicles of i i assume maybe staff and whatnot that have just been parked outside of the school at this point. i'm just waiting now for information from the one we spoke with theresa a little bit earlier. we do know that pd detectives are at highland hospital. i'm attempting likely speak with victims and or their families. we do want to share with you what oakland mayor, libby schaff had to say about this again, as we mentioned, not there, but 9 homicides in oakland over the last 9 days. she says today's gun violence. that's a journal truth. school shocks, the sole our schools are sanctuaries for our children. our investigators report all 6 victims are adults and being
3:45 pm
treated for injuries at hospitals of the school is clear. all children being reunited with families. and then she went on to just say the unbridled access to firearms in our country. it's inexcusable. the words we just keep hearing from different folks in the community, a lot of trauma is councilmember treva reid said just a little bit earlier. i'm a man who is. a part of you. live 8, an organization that reaches out to the youth in oakland who obviously are seeing and hearing about gun violence in their communities on a daily basis in the man we spoke with there with you to live said that this is just got punching. he mentioned that if the shooting happened in a classroom from what he heard, we still have not confirmed if this happened inside a classroom or outside. but i did look out to here and on wednesdays, it seems the school has a minimum day, which i assume is a half day.
3:46 pm
so it seems that on minimum the end with lunch at around 12, 30 and the first calls about this came in just before 1 o'clock. so it is possible this happened outside of the school. again, we're not sure we're waiting to hear from opd has to recess. you mentioned earlier, they were supposed to be giving an update within the next 15 minutes. it's been about 15 minutes. we have not heard that. we do have crews everywhere. we do it. we are hearing that we will hear from the ceo highland hospital and about 40 minutes from now. so of course, stick with us. we have been live for over an hour and 45 minutes and we'll continue to stay on and bring you the very latest details out of east oakland. let's go back to the new video we just got into newsroom. the live picture there just showing us here. some parents of >> looks like our guardians leaving kids. but the video that we got showed us the tactical gear that these officers were wearing as they were approaching the campus. the police tape up there, the opd trucks that are there,
3:47 pm
their life and siren still going. but you can see the heavy tactical gear that these officers are this is them walking out of the parking lot of the independent study as sojourner trust and the police closures that are happening on fun team. but we so we see here that they sort of seem calm. they're not rushing towards the scene. this is them leaving, but they have their shields and their helmets and and their weapons with them is they're trying to secure the situation. we were talking to parents who got that learned about in the lockdown. they said that they were totally freaked out when they got a text message or phone call email to the parents saying that they needed to go pick up. their kids at the school is on lockdown. they were able to then rushed to the scene. they were absolutely freaked out. hugging their kids. absolutely. great fall of the situation that they were able to take their kids home at the end of the that was difficult for u.s. team. hear from
3:48 pm
parents as we have these 6 victims. some of them are adult students, their ages from 18 to 50 years old. we have a 3 at highland hospital, 3 and even valley medical center. theresa stasi was there outside of highland hospital. she was able to see some of the family members walk out of the emergency room. she tried to approach them politely. they just said they were too traumatized to talk to her. they were very upset about the situation and that they were sort of all huddling together, hugging and crying as we still got more details now into our newsroom. we have a another reporter joining us here live during our breaking news coverage of his justin campbell. he is there for us on the scene. justin, please tell us of everything that you know that's unfolded today. yes, so far 6 people have been injured in this shooting. that's what we're hearing from oakland
3:49 pm
police and right where i'm at right now. there are a lot of school officials that in this area were at the corner of keller in if you're looking across our photo journalists, rudy garcia, where you can see. >> i hear a siren right there. you could see all of the school officials and that people that are standing outside wondering exactly. i'm trying to get the latest information on what's happening. we're going to pan to the right. and here's what i want to show when we got here. this is the bridge leading over to the campus of where 3 of those on that campus are just a little while ago. about 30 minutes ago, we saw a swat go through this area. police had it blocked off >> they've now since opened it. but if you look in that far distant corner on the left, i'm not sure if we can see it. there is some tape that is up. police are not allowing anyone to go in that direction. we have not heard any information so far on if there is any suspect in that
3:50 pm
is the latest that we have from out here working to get more will pan back out to me as we learn more exactly about what has happened if somebody is in custody were to be sure to pass it along to you. >> justin, that you guys just there at the u reunification center, it looked like there were a lot of adults to i adult victims are what we what we know about the victims of this point. but as far as the people there left at the reunification center, are there any young students over their families still or does it seem that it's mostly adults? it seems that it's mostly that i haven't seen any young students around. it's been mostly. >> adults along with school also the oakland for the police department is here. people also lots of media. so i have not seen any young students. >> justin, what are the emotions like where you are? people panicked? are they just
3:51 pm
sort of in that anxiety stage waiting for information? >> yeah, that's exactly what it is like. people are in an stay there waiting for information there. wondering exactly what happened. what really people been asking since i've been talking to them is they want to know the details they want to know is somebody you know who who did this? we know 6 people have been injured in the shooting, but what was behind it? the motive is somebody in custody that is information that we're waiting for right now from oakland police. >> how many people just in would you estimate are are there right now at the unit for reunification center? it's a half a mile away from the bay tech campus and where sojourner truth is located. right now. i would estimate probably a solid 30 people >> outside of this church that people were standing but roughly 30 people i would say, are here. people have also been driving by asking
3:52 pm
questions to try to figure out what's happened. but i will say you do see a the helicopters also in the air the police presence. this road is back open. i've covered a lot of it. you know, shootings in crimes over the years. but once they start allowing roads to be open, using that as a sign that things are moving in the right direction. justin, we just got from a new information from the alameda county sheriff's office there saying that this was, quote, probably a targeted event. >> according to the alameda county sheriff's office there saying that this shooting where a 6 people have gone to 2 different hospitals. this was probably a targeted event. that's from the alameda county sheriff's office. the other new details we're just getting from kron four's of flu to golf. he is outside of eden medical center in castro valley. he says that a hospital spokesperson is confirming the 3 victims from the oakland shooting were taken there. and one has since
3:53 pm
been discharged. so that lets us know that the injuries that that person suffered in this school shooting. certainly not critical. certainly not life threatening enough for them to be able to go home or at least be discharged from the hospital at the end of the day today. so 6 people in total shot. there are adults ranging in age from 18 to 50 and one has since been discharged. i'm there at the reunification center are do they have plans to stay there throughout the evening tonight? a double double. they be able to help families who you know, help with the trauma that that that they've experienced today. yeah, it's some of the people that i spoke to out here say they're they are here to help. >> there's a lot of different community members as a lot of different that school that are here that plan to be here through the night to actually help what's going on anybody that needs help from what happened with the shooting. but has this information on folds? it's developing and we're trying to get the latest
3:54 pm
know, just everyday people going there and showing up there trying to really keep that for the campus. but are they looking for the public to try to do anything that people these victims might need help with? >> yeah, a lot of times in these cases they are asking for, you know, donation of clothes, donation of water, too. help. we don't have an exact address if they would like people to drop off that here. that's something that will look into to i have not heard of anybody asking for donations yet, but we'll be sure to check in with the people at the reunification center at there's anything that people can do at home to help with what happened here for the victims. >> justin campbell, live for us outside of the saint church
3:55 pm
in oakland, which is where the reunification has been set up for victims are people who need to connect with students, whether their children or adults who may have been tending a school today are working at the bay tech campus. justin campbell, thank you so much. we'll come back to later on during our breaking news out we're also seeing some a new life, a new pictures. >> into our newsroom here showing us the emergency vehicles. i'm not sure of the location of where ambulances our but the live picture. that's the smaller screen. that's right. outside of the entrance. the bigger video here that we're looking at is this new video into our newsroom even valley medical center in castro valley. that's where 3 victims went that we have underd now from a hospital spokesperson that one person has been discharge. so they're treating 2 victims from the oakland shooting there at even valley medical center. we can see the ambulances that were there outside of this trauma center.
3:56 pm
we can also see that the the doctors walking in and out when we checked in with theresa who is at highland hospital in oakland where 3 other victims from this school shooting were taken. she said that she saw oakland police detectives going in and out of the emergency room, possibly she thinks talking with victims trying to get some information really is talking to victims families or with the doctors who are there on staff trying to learn some information the injuries that these people are suffering right now. so that's what she says. she also family members. they were too upset to talk to her, but they were hugging and crying and the video here that's again of eden valley medical center where they are renewed originally got 3 victims from the shooting and now they have discharged one that the hospital no, not talking, though, to the media. they've asked people to get off the property. they're not looking for people to be congregating. there are at even valley medical center. the if you do need some information from. whether it's
3:57 pm
oakland police or the school or the school district as soon as they start any press conferences at any point tonight, we will be bringing that to you live. so you can get the latest information. but if you do need to be meeting up with a loved one who may have been on the bay tech campus or attended a sojourner truth. indepenient study where the shooting took place. you're asked to go to saint cuthbert's church. that's where justin campbell is just reporting for us. that's on keller avenue in mountain boulevard. but the latest information we had from the california highway patrol is that the keller avenue east and westbound ramps were closed off of 5.80, haven't got an update from them. whether or not they have to reopen that. but that is the closest exit off of 5.80. that would get people to the reunification center. so at the top of the hour, we're hoping to be able to get some information from the local police can get you some information as far as any information about a suspect or
3:58 pm
suspects, whether there's a vehicle description. when we talk to council member read alive here just a few minutes ago, she told us that anyone in the area that may have surveillance video oakland police want to see that if you have a nest camera ring camera, any type of security camera outyide of your house. oakland police want to see it. they probably want to see the people who may have been walking around the area may be canvassing the area may be driving in and out that, you know, that's all part of oakland's investigation. so if if you are in that area, fontaine, if you're near the bay area, tech campus, oakland police are looking for according to council member read, they are looking for any of the footage from the area of fun team. they want to see that surveillance video so they can try to piece together the investigation. but again, as soon as oakland police start to give any type of update here, we will pass that along to you. we hope that the oakland unified school district also at some point comes out and from the cameras and can address some of the questions that we're having as far as exactly where on the
3:59 pm
campus of sojourner truth. this shooting took place. where exactly the shooting took place. that's what we want to figure out. we also are expecting to hear some information in the next hour here highland hospital. they'll be able to talk a little bit more about the victims. but just to recap here, the breaking news we've been following during kron 4 news of the past 2 hours or so is a shooting that has taken place at a campus in east oakland as sojourner truth. 6 victims in total. they. range in age from 18 to 50 years old. there were 3 victims that were taken to highland hospital. 3 victims taken to eat in valley medical center. one has since been discharged. if the people are trying to meet up with loved ones who were on the bay tech campus. they need to be going to the saint comforts church that's located it fountain. keller avenue mountain mountain and mountain boulevard and keller
4:00 pm
avenue. as we continue our coverage here of this breaking news, a shooting that has happened in east oakland today. we're going to send it over now to kron four's grant lotus and vicki liviakis there in our main studio. now they'll be able to take us through the breaking news coverage throughout the rest of the evening tonight. grant vicki, this is just absolutely traumatizing, really feeling for the oakland community and all of the bay area as we deal with horrific school shooting today. certainly justine in for any parent. it is. it is something you just do not want to hear. >> thank you, justin. we're going to take it from here. all right, breaking news coverage continues. >> that school shooting in east oakland as we have been talking about again, 6 people shot all adults. fortunately, even though this was on a >> campus that house. >> kron four's rob fladeboe >> understand the people who were shot to ages 18 to
